Prices and rents by UK nation

House prices are national averages for transactions covered by the index. Private rents cover the official rental statistics, not just newly advertised properties in all cases. Reporting periods and source methods differ; Northern Ireland's observations are older in this release.

What these numbers do—and do not—tell you

An average UK house price is not a valuation of your property. Local transactions, tenure, floor area, condition and location can be substantially different. Even the latest house-price observations can be revised as more sales are registered.

Bank Rate is a monetary-policy rate, not the mortgage rate a buyer can secure. Lender pricing varies by loan-to-value, credit profile, loan term and other factors. Use the MMG mortgage calculator to test assumptions rather than assuming Bank Rate is an available mortgage product.
